Abstract
This study focuses on the families with three children(also known as “families with multiple children”) in Korea and examines various factors associated with their family planning experiences. The study adopts a QUAN → qual mixed method approach using the 『2009 National Survey on Marriage and Fertility』 as a core dataset and fifteen in-person qualitative interviews as a supplemental dataset. The findings illustrate socioeconomic characteristics of the study samples and a model on process of forming families with multiple children due to various reasons. Finally, the authors discuss types of services that parents with three children perceive as helpful and make policy recommendations to support these families.
