Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of parenting competency of mothers with metal disorders and to discuss whether there was a mediating effect of spouse cooperation and social support between functioning level and parenting competency. This study conducted a survey of 306 mothers with schizophrenia and mood disorder. The results of this study were as follows. First, the parenting competency of mothers was lower than intermediate level. Second, the functioning level of mothers with metal disorders had a meaningful negative influence on their parenting competency, spouse cooperation and social support. Third, spouse cooperation and social support had a partial mediating effect between functioning level and parenting competency. As a result of this research, comprehensive implications were suggested for improving parenting competency of mothers with metal disorders and enhancing spouse cooperation and social support.
