Abstract
The purpose of this study was to identify factors affecting attitudes toward filial piety among participants in long-term caregivers education courses and to examine the causal relationship between participation in long-term caregivers education courses9 and their attitudes toward filial piety. Following a literature review, a questionnaire was developed. A set of questionnaires(n=202) were analyzed using SPSS WIN 14.0. The results of the study are as follows. First, individual characteristics such as socio-demographic variables appeared to be associated with the level of perceptions of filial piety. Second, long-term caregivers education had a positive effect on attitudes toward filial piety. Based on the results of the study, the relationship between public and private eldercare was discussed. Finally, implications for enhancing attitudes toward filial piety among participants in long-term caregivers education courses were discussed.
