Abstract
This study examined whether current laws and policies include immigrant families in social security systems essential for their social integration. The study focused on key areas such as childcare services, assistance for individuals with disabilities, support for single-parent families. Specifically, it analyzed provisions of laws such as the Childcare Act, the Act on Welfare of Persons With Disabilities, the Single-Parent Family Support Act, the National Basic Living Security Act, and the Act on the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Protection of Victims, as well as policy documents including policy basic plans, program guides, and local government ordinances. The findings revealed that the majority of the reviewed policies excluded immigrants of foreign nationality, with exceptions made for marriage migrants and refugees. However, some policies imposed additional requirements even on marriage migrants and refugees. Recommendations were provided to foster an inclusive environment conducive to facilitating the settlement and stability of vulnerable immigrant families through social welfare support.
