Abstract
Population projection is not just a tool for forecasting the future based on current trends; it also provides essential insights for devising strategies to prepare for various future scenarios, thus holding significant value in related policy research. Accordingly, this study concentrates on developing a population projection model that can be employed as the primary analytical tool for policy research conducted by our institute. In particular, the population projection model from Statistics Korea has been re-implemented to suit our research environment, while modularizing each process to enhance its applicability in actual policy research. Moreover, by examining case studies using the population projection model and its limitations, this research has proposed ways to utilize the model being built.
