Research to expand telemedicine: Policy strategies and tasks

Abstract

When expanding telemedicine in Korea, we would like to propose that secondary visits be the principle, but with regard to the scope where first visits are possible, exceptional circumstances should be noted and added based on the judgment of the medical staff, and whether or not it is possible should be decided based on the doctor's judgment. Looking at each issue of telemedicine, regarding drug delivery, considerations include adding identity verification procedures when delivering drugs through telemedicine, ensuring stability in the drug delivery and delivery process, and preventing violations of contraindications for taking medication that occur due to prescription errors, etc. Regarding telemedicine platforms, it is necessary to present management/supervision activity plans of relevant departments and reporting/sanctions/penalties in case of violations so that platform stakeholders are aware of maintaining order in the health care market and complying with health care laws and regulations.
