Abstract
This study aims to move away from the perspective of viewing middle-aged and older individuals living in single-person households as a vulnerable class. Instead, it seeks improvement in social policy measures for single-person households of middle-aged and older individuals as a common household type, reflecting their heterogeneity. To achieve this, the study conducted a comparative analysis of the characteristics of current single-person households of middle-aged and older adults. It also explored the specific needs of these households and scrutinized legal and policy issues pertinent to them. Subsequently, social policy enhancement measures were derived to promote the stability of life for individuals in these households.
