균열의 시대에 대응하는 사회정책 발전방향 모색

Abstract

The keyword of the 2022 Korean Joint Conference of Social Policy was 'cleavage'. Its official title was ‘The Age of Cleavage: A Re-challenge of Social Policy’. Considering that inequality, disparities, and polarization have become common research topics in social policy, this approach was rather new. Through this new lens, the conference tried to look at the current issues of Korean society. Participating societies added new areas one by one to refine and enrich the discussion. For example, ‘Gender’ (Korean Association of Social Policy), ‘Social Welfare Movement’ (Critical Social Welfare Academy), and ‘Care’ (Academy of Critical Health Policy) were presented as areas of interest. Not only that. Currently, Korea is experiencing global crises of climate change, care crisis, inequality, polarization, and digitalization, as well as its individual crises of a low birth rate and aging population, which are unprecedented in the world, and deepening ideological conflicts. These are all challenges facing social policy. The joint conference proceeded with abundant discussions on these agenda. While the plenary session and conference sessions aimed to analyze and explain Korean society with a single key word, ‘cleavage’, various co-sponsored institutional sessions and free sessions dealt with rising topics in Korean society. At the 2022 Korean Joint Conference of Social Policy, in addition to the keynote lecture (Value, not Price: Keywords of the 21st Century Welfare State), was one Plenary session, 4 breakout sessions (20 presentations), 11 co-sponsored institution sessions (27 presentations) and 9 free sessions (25 presentations). This report summarizes the content and key achievements of the event.
