Analysis of Effectiveness on Youth Start-up Support Policies by Business Type

Abstract

This study reviewed the possibility of introducing the youth start-up support policies to nonprofit corporations as an alternative of reducing the youth unemployment rate, which has emerged as an important issue in Korean society. The results of the analysis are that, first, the government support policies exist for venture businesses, social enterprises, and cooperatives, but there is no support policy for the nonprofit corporations; second, the nonprofit corporations have competitiveness in terms of employment effect and asset size compared to the general for-profit corporations and those depending on the start-up support policies; third, analysis of start-up success factors by business type revealed that government project participation was more important for the nonprofit corporations than for the for-profit corporations.
