Abstract
The comprehensive nursing system has been introduced to reduce informal care-giving and improve the quality of nursing care. This study aims to identify the effect of comprehensive nursing service on patients’ prognosis. This study used a National Health Information Database released by the National Health Insurance Service. The case group is a patient who hospitalized in 2015-2019. We used a statistical matching technique called propensity-scores estimating to reduce the bias due to confounding variables between the case and control groups. The final sample included 4,368,956 (case group: 2,210,774, control group: 2,158,182). We used a logistic regression model to identify the effect of comprehensive nursing service on patients’ prognosis while adjusting for confounders. According to results, The probability that patients using the comprehensive nursing service will be re-admission within 30 days of discharge from hospital was lower compared to patients using the general ward. Most of the cases were roughly the same except for a few disease groups. The quality of nursing is one of the factors affecting the patients' prognosis. It is necessary to ensure that comprehensive nursing service is established in a stable manner through compensation for patients' safety and medical results.
