The Effect of Social Security System on Poverty and Inequality in Korea

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate how the current social security programs affect the income security of working age groups. Despite the continued expansion of the social security system, the increasing unemployment in the young and the middle-aged has been raised as a social issue, and the current income security system does not sufficiently protect them. Under these conditions, it is important to examine how the current social security programs protect working age groups. This study examined the current state of the income security systems for working-age groups in the UK and the Netherlands. This study also analyzed the effects of several income security systems and drew policy imprecations for income protection programs for working-age groups in Korea.
