dc.description.abstract	프랑스에서 코로나바이러스감염증-19의 확산과 함께 증가한 동양인 혐오 범죄는 그동안 비가시화되어 왔던 동양인 인종차별 문제를 수면 위로 끌어올리는 계기가 되었다. 이 글에서는 동양인이 서구 사회에서 어떻게 전형화 되어 왔는지 역사적 관점에서 살펴보고, 전형화의 특성인 양면성을 중심으로 동양인에 대한 두 가지 인종 담론인 모델 마이너리티(Model Minority)와 황화론(Yellow Peril)에 대해 설명한다. 이전까지 동양인은 서구 사회에서 모범적인 소수집단으로 전형화 되어 왔으며 이는 동양인에 대한 인종차별을 축소하고 용인하는 결과를 낳았다. 한편 코로나19와 함께 재부상한 황화론은 동양인을 바이러스 보균자로 낙인찍었고 이는 동양인의 안전을 위협하고 있다. 동양인 이민자들은 인종차별을 공론화하기 위해 적극적으로 목소리를 내고 있지만 프랑스 정부는 이에 대해 여전히 소극적인 태도를 보여 주고 있다.
