dc.description.abstract	빈곤 환경에서 성장한 아동은 성인이 되어서도 열악한 삶을 살 가능성이 매우 크다. 이는 고소득 국가에 거주하는 아동에게도 동일하게 적용된다. 일례로 경제협력개발기구 가족 데이터베이스(OECD Family Database)에 따르면, 2014년 일본 아동의 상대적 빈곤 수준은 OECD 전체 회원국 37개국 중 26위에 머물렀다. 전국 의료기관의 협력을 통해 일본의 소득 불평등 및 아동의 양육 환경을 살펴보고자 한다. 0~15세 아동 및 아동의 돌봄자를 대상으로 2014~2015년에 걸쳐 3개의 횡단연구를 실시했다. 응답자 2214명 중 1907명(86%)이 가구 소득 및 가구 구성에 대한 신뢰성 있는 정보를 제공하였다. 분석 결과, 조사 대상 아동의 5분의 1이 상대적 빈곤층이고 이 중 10분의 1이 공적부조를 받고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 한부모가정의 3분의 2는 빈곤층이며, 빈곤층 부모 중 5분의 2는 자신의 생활 환경에 만족한다고 응답하였다. 이 글은 재정 자원 부족과 역량 박탈 문제를 해결하고 아동빈곤을 감소시키기 위해 사회 전체가 취약계층 아동을 위한 더욱 적극적인 정책 방안을 마련해야 한다는 것을 정책 제안으로 제시한다.
