Abstract: 본 연구는 장애인의 실업과 우울의 인과관계를 검정하고, 이 결과를 반영한 정책적 함의를 찾는데 목적이 있다. 최근 연구들은 장애인의 실업과 장애인의 우울에 대해 개별적으로 접근해 왔으나, 장애인의 실업과 우울에 대한 명확한 인과관계 규명에 미흡하였다. 단지 일반적 수준에서 장애인들은 취업에 실패하는 실업상태로 인해 우울을 경험한다고 설명하는 노출가설과 장애인의 우울이 이들의 취업을 방해하는 원인이라는 선택가설이 대립되어 왔다. 따라서 본 연구는 한국복지패널 2006년∼2012년 자료를 활용하여 자기회귀교차지연 모형을 적용함으로써 장애인의 실업과 우울간의 인과관계를 검정하였다. 분석결과 장애인의 우울이 이들의 실업에 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 장애인의 실업의 원인으로 나타났다. 이에 따른 정책적 시사점은 제언부분에 포함하였다.
