Abstract
영국의 노인 인구는 빠른 속도로 늘고 있지만 병약한 노인의 일상 생활을 지원하는 노인 돌봄 서비스는 재정난으로 삐걱거리고 있어 곳곳에서 경고의 목소리가 터져나오고 있다. 제때 필요한 도움을 받지 못한 노인의 가정의, 응급실 이용이 급증하고 돌아갈 안전한 곳이 마련되어 있지 않아 노인이 퇴원을 거부하는 현상이 증가하는 가운데 영국 감사원은 의료·돌봄 서비스의 재정 압박이 심각한 수준에 이르렀다고 경고했다.
