Abstract
민주당이 힐러리 클린턴 전 국무장관을 대통령 후보로 선출함으로써 11월 대선에 나설 두 정당의 대통령 후보가 확정되었다. 그 어느 때보다 진보와 보수의 대립이 극명하게 나타난 예비선거에서 젊은 층이 주를 이룬 샌더스 지지자들은 센세이션을 불러 일으켰으며, 비록 후보 경선에서는 실패했지만 민주당의 정강정책을 좌측으로 더 기울이는 데는 성공했다.
