Abstract
This study aims to find out the factors affecting the cognition and utilization of Multicultural Family Support Centers among foreign spouses of multicultural families. This study uses the "National Survey on Multicultural Families 2012" for its analyses. That is analyzed with binary logistic model. The major findings are as follows: First, age(b=-.015), female(b=.890), status on employing(b=-.102), length of residence(b=.013) and ethnic background(b=.524) were significant social demographical factors influencing the foreign spouses’cognition of Multicultural Family Support Centers(MFSC). Among resource factors, language ability(b=.022), relationships with people from home country(b=.060), relationships with Korean people(b=.051) and place of residence were founded to be associated with the cognition of MFSC. Both need factors, perceived need for the services(b=.016) and status on having children(b=.277) were found to be significant predictors of cognition of MFSC. Second, age(b=-.025), female(b=1.638), education levels[high school(b=-.156), college(b=-.295)], length of residence(b=-.016), ethnic background[Korean-Chinese(b=-.814), Chinese (b=-.319), Philippine(b=.486) were significant social demographical factors influencing the foreign spouses’utilization of Multicultural Family Support Centers(MFSC). Among resource factors, language ability(b=-.022), relationships with people from home country(b=.072), National Basic Livelihood Security’s status(b=.463) and place of residence(b=-.436) were founded to be associated with the utilization of MFSC. Both need factors, perceived need for the services(b=.033) and status on having children(b=.278) were found to be significant predictors of utilization of MFSC.
