Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine moderating effect of gender role stereotype on the relations between academic stresses and depression in adolescence. To investigate the moderating effect, simple slope test on multiple linear regression (MLR) model was used. This study used data from the wave 4 of Korean Youth Panel Study (KYPS), and analyzed data of 3,121 second grade high school students. The results were as follows: gender role stereotype had a positive effect on depression of students; and gender role stereotype of female stereotypic role showed moderating effects that enhancing the positive effect of academic stress. Especially when students have the high level of gender role stereotype of female stereotypic role, the positive effect of academic stress on depression was increased. Based on the results, practice implication for adolescents was discussed.
