The purpose of this study is to analyze the types of older people's social or labor market participation by taking the viewpoint that social or labor market participation cannot be considered alone but has to go hand in hand with old age income insurance characteristics. In order to achieve such objective, this study categorizes the linked types of old age income policy and old age labor market participation. A k-means cluster analysis was applied to 28 OECD member countries. The next step was to analyze micro-data of the most representative country from each cluster in order to find out specific labor market characteristics of older people and their income composition. Last but not least old age income policy and labor market policies for older people was explored to draw meaningful implications for Korea. As a conclusion this study emphasizes on the importance of linking income policy with labor market policy for older people and the necessity to build up a more clear and distinct purpose for older people's social participation policies in Korea.
