Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of social support, social stigma, self-esteem on health related quality of life in people living with HIV/AIDS in korea. To achieve this purpose, a survey was conducted, and this sample was based on 251 people living with HIV/AIDS. A sampling method was the snowball sampling using face to face interview. The main results of this study include the following. First, the positive function of social support effects on health related quality of life in people living with HIV/AIDS. Second, social stigma turns out to be negative effect on health related quality of life. Third, self-esteem influenced on health related quality of life. Fourth, knowing their illness proves to be positive effect on health related quality of life. Fifth, stress has a significant negative casual effect on health related quality of life in people living with HIV/AIDS. It is necessary for future research studies to investigate more variables systematically in order to understand the people living with HIV/AIDS and their quality of life.
