dc.description.abstract	현재 한국 사회는 심각한 저출산 문제에 직면해 있다. 언론은 저출산의 문제와 출산율 감소를 경쟁적으로 강조하는 한편, 저출산에 대응하는 정부 정책의 실효성에 의문을 제기해왔다. 언론이 저출산의 해결책보다는 문제를 강조함으로써 청년들의 출산과 육아에 대한 인식과 행동에 부정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있음에도, 이를 입증하는 실증 연구는 미비한 실정이다. 본 연구는 의제 설정과 미디어 프레이밍 이론을 바탕으로 청년들이 저출산 관련 뉴스를 어떻게 인식하고 평가하며, 성별과 결혼 및 자녀 유무로 구분된 세부 집단들은 이러한 인식과 평가에 어떠한 차이가 있는지 검토하였다. 또한 뉴스에 대한 프레임 인식과 긍·부정 평가가 이슈 관여도와 행동 변화 의도를 예측하는지 분석하였다. 전국 만 19-49세 성인 2,000명을 대상으로 2024년 5월에 실시한 온라인 설문 조사자료를 분석한 연구 결과는 다음과 같다: (1) 응답자들은 언론 보도가 해결책보다는 문제점에 초점을 맞추며, 그 영향력을 부정적으로 인식했다; (2) 미혼 여성 집단은 다른 집단에 비해 대체로 저출산 관련 뉴스를 부정적으로 평가했고, 낮은 행동 변화 의도를 나타냈다; (3) 저출산 뉴스의 역할을 긍정적으로 평가할수록 이슈 관여도와 행동 변화 의도는 높게 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 언론이 저출산의 문제점에 초점을 두기보다는 결혼과 출산에 대한 다양한 시각과 해법을 제공하는 것이 중요함을 시사하며, 이러한 뉴스에 대해 청년들이 긍정적으로 평가한다면 이슈 관여도 향상과 실질적 행동 변화에 기여할 수 있음을 시사한다.
dc.description.abstract	Low birthrate has been a serious social issue in South Korea. While news media emphasize the problems of low fertility and declining birthrates, they also question the effectiveness of government policies addressing these issues. This news media focus on problems rather than solutions may negatively influence young people's perceptions and behaviors regarding childbirth and parenting. However, empirical studies substantiating such claims remain scarce. Based on agenda-setting and media framing theory, this study analyzes how young people perceive and evaluate news about low birthrate and how those perceptions and evaluations predict issue involvement and behavioral intentions. We also examine differences in news perceptions and evaluations across subgroups defined by gender, marital status, and parenthood status. Analysis of online survey data collected from 2,000 adults aged 19 to 49 across South Korea revealed the following findings. (1) Respondents perceived news about low birthrate as being framed more around problems than solutions and evaluated the news negatively. (2) The subgroups that evaluated the news most negatively were unmarried women and married women without children. (3) Compared to other subgroups, these two groups also demonstrated lower perceptions of the negative impacts of low-birthrate-related news and weaker behavioral change intentions. (4) The more positively respondents evaluated a news report about the issue, the more likely they were to report involvement in the issue and to express intentions to change their behaviors regarding marriage and childbirth. These results suggest that, instead of focusing mainly on the problems of low birthrate, the media should try to indicate solutions and present various perspectives on marriage and childbirth.
