dc.description.abstract	치매 환자의 증가와 함께, 다른 한편으로 장기요양서비스 및 포괄적 관리와 지원 체계의 부재는 치매 환자뿐 아니라 가족과 돌봄제공자에게 상당한 신체적, 정신적, 경제적 부담을 야기해 왔다. 미국의 65세 이상 노인과 장애인 대상 공보험인 메디케어는 치매 환자의 지역사회 거주 기간을 늘리고 가족 돌봄제공자의 부담을 완화하기 위해 2024년 7월 GUIDE(Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience) 사업을 시작했다. 사업은 케어 조정 및 관리, 가족돌봄자 지원 및 교육, 치매 환자에 대한 임시 간호서비스를 제공하며 참여기관은 이를 위해 치매 관리 역량이 있는 의사와 케어 내비게이터(care navigator)를 필수적으로 두어야 한다. 8년 시행 후 평가를 통해 사업의 지속성이 결정될 예정으로 향후 관찰이 필요하다.
dc.description.abstract	As the number of dementia patients continues to rise, the absence of a long-term care system and support scheme has long added considerably to the physical, mental, and financial burdens not only on patients themselves but also on their families and caregivers. Medicare, a public health insurance program for people aged 65 and older, as well as people with disabilities, launched its Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience (GUIDE) model in July 2024, aiming to reduce the care burden on families and help people with dementia continue living in their communities. The GUIDE model offers coordinated care, care management services, and ad-hoc nursing care for patients, along with support and education for family caregivers. Participating entities must have physicians and care navigators capable of managing dementia patients. Whether the GUIDE model will continue will be determined based on assessments following its 8-year pilot phase.
