dc.description.abstract	유례를 찾기 힘든 정치적 격랑 가운데 치러지는 이번 미 대선에서 해리스와 트럼프 진영은 주요 정책 의제에 대해서 여러 경로를 통하여 의견을 개진하고 있다. 두 캠페인이 공통적으로 의견을 피력한 대표적 정책 의제가 바로 사회보장연금(Social Security) 개혁안이다. 이 글에서는 양 진영에서 내세우고 있는 사회보장연금 개혁 공약을 중심으로 이와 관련된 미 정치권의 기류를 살펴보고 그 함의를 짚어보았다. 각 국가들의 연금개혁 내용을 온전히 이해하기 위해서는 해당 국가의 사회경제적 맥락 속에서 연금제도가 갖는 특수성을 간과하지 말아야 한다. 따라서 이 글에서는 먼저 미국 사회보장연금의 현황과 특수성을 알아보고 이를 바탕으로 미국 사회보장연금의 사회경제적 의미와 문제점을 살펴본다. 그리고 해리스와 트럼프 캠페인의 구체적 연금개혁안의 의미를 알아본다.
dc.description.abstract	Amid unprecedented political turbulence, the Harris and Trump camps continue to put forth their policy promises through various channels. A key agenda issue that both camps have elaborated on is Social Security reform. To fully understand a country’s pension reform, it’s essential not to lose sight of the pension system’s role within the national socioeconomic context. This article, therefore, explores the current state and significance of US Social Security, as well as the implications and issues it presents in the US socioeconomic context. It also reviews each candidate’s social security reform proposals and assesses their potential effects and likely public perception in the US political landscape.
