| dc.description.abstract | 좋은 죽음(good death)에 대한 관심이 커지면서 여러 국가는 존엄한 생애 말기를 지원하기 위한 정책을 운영하고 있다. 국가마다 사전돌봄계획(ACP: Advance Care Planning)의 일부로 연명의료결정제도를 도입한 방식과 이행 시기, 절차 등은 다양하지만, 사전연명의료의향서로 거부하는 치료 내용과 죽음에 대한 선호를 반영하고 대리인 지정 제도를 통해 환자의 자기결정권을 보장한다는 공통점이 있다. 한국은 2018년 2월 「연명의료결정법」을 시행하면서 ‘연명의료결정제도’를 운영하고 있는데, 주요국의 사례를 참고한다면 환자의 자기결정권을 보장하고 강화하는 데 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다. |
| dc.description.abstract | As attention grows around the notion of a ‘good death’, some countries have put in place policies to support a dignified end of life. Instituted as part of advance care planning, initiatives for life-sustaining treatment decisions, though varying by country in their methods, criteria, and procedures, share the common goal of respecting patients’ preference of death over specific treatments and ensuring their self-determination through the appointment of a health care agent. Korea adopted a life-sustaining treatment decision system in February 2018, following the corresponding legislation enacted two years earlier. The practices from selected countries, as discussed here, offer a point of reference that Korea could look for guidance when seeking to enhance and ensure patients’ self-determination in end-of-life care. |
