dc.description.abstract	이 글에서는 2024년 de la Porte 외(2023)의 ‘10개국 사회 변화와 시민 의식, 공공 정책 조사’ 자료를 이용하여 한국인의 기후변화와 정책 대응에 대한 인식을 살펴본다. 이때 기후변화의 영향이 장기간에 걸쳐 나타나 세대 간 정의가 주요 화두라는 점을 고려하여 연령을 중심으로 인식의 차이를 검토한다. 한국인들은 기후변화를 다른 어떤 문제보다도 심각하게 인식하고 있으며, 상대적으로 고령층이 더 기후변화를 우려하는 경향이 있다. 청년층의 위험 인지 수준도 상당히 높은 가운데, 탄소 저감 정책으로 인해 자신과 같은 사람들이 더 많은 희생을 하게 될 것이라고 보는 경향은 고령층보다 더 짙다. 기후변화를 심각한 문제로 인식하는 것만큼이나 한국인들은 소비 감축을 통해 지구온난화 추세를 늦추는 것에도 우호적이다. 모든 세대가 고령자들의 책임을 강하게 인식하는 가운데 다른 나라들과 달리 한국의 고령자들 자신도 기후변화와 관련한 기성세대의 책임을 크게 느끼고 변화 노력에도 적극적이기도 하다. 이는 한국인들이 기후변화와 관련하여 세대 간 정의의 문제를 중요하게 인식하는 상황에서 기후 위기 해결 방안을 모색하는 데 긍정적인 토양이 되리라 생각한다.
dc.description.abstract	This article examines how Koreans perceive climate change and related policy responses, drawing on data from “Societal Challenges, Public Opinions, and Public Policies in 10 Countries,” a 2024 survey study conducted by de la Porte et al. Given that, as the impact of climate change unfolds over an extended period of time, intergenerational justice has become a topic of global interest, this article explores how public perceptions of climate change and related policies vary across different age groups. Koreans are more concerned about climate change than other social issues, with older Koreans showing even greater concern. While young adults in Korea remain highly concerned, they tend to view themselves as more likely to be adversely affected by carbon reduction policies than older adults perceive themselves to be. Koreans are as willing to slow global warming by reducing their consumption as they are concerned about climate change. In Korea, unlike in other countries, the belief that the older generation is more responsible for climate change—while shared across different generations—is more strongly endorsed by older adults themselves, who are thus highly motivated to make necessary changes. This suggests that Koreans take intergenerational justice seriously in the context of climate change, which creates a favorable environment for developing strategies to address the climate crisis.
