고령장애인의 빈곤과 우울감이 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향: 자아존중감의 매개효과 검증

Abstract

본 연구는 한국복지패널 12차년도(2017)자료를 사용하여 빈곤여부와 우울감 수준이 고령장애인의 삶의 만족도에 각각 영향을 미치는 과정에서 자아존중감이 매개효과를 보이는지 분석하였다. 분석결과, 빈곤여부는 고령장애인의 자아존중감과 삶의 만족도에 각각 부적인 영향을 미치며, 우울감 또한 고령장애인의 자아존중감과 삶의 만족도에 각각 부적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 빈곤여부와 우울감이 고령장애인의 삶의 만족도에 각각 영향을 미치는 데 있어서 자아존중감이 부분 매개역할을 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과에 기초하여, 고령장애인 가구를 대상으로 소득보장정책의 강화가 요구되며, 우울감을 예방하기 위한 사회복지 개입의 강화가 요구된다. 그리고 빈곤 상태에 있거나 우울감이 있는 고령장애인 가구가 삶의 질이 저하되지 않도록 자아존중감 향상에 도움이 되는 다양한 프로그램들의 개발이 필요하다.

The purpose of the current research is to analyze mediating effects of self-esteem on depression as well poverty status have effect on life satisfaction of older adults with disability. This study used 12th panel data of KoWePS (Korean Welfare Panel Study) and executed Path analysis with AMOS 20.0. Findings of this research are as followed. First, poverty status and depression of older adults with disability are found to have negative effect on self-esteem and life satisfaction. Second, we found not full but partial mediating effect of self-esteem between depression and life satisfaction as well as between poverty status and life satisfaction. Therefore our findings suggest that social welfare intervention to prevent depression as well as the strengthening the income security policy is needed for the older adults with disabilities. Also, it is necessary to develop various programs to help improve self-esteem lest the quality of life of poor or depressed older adults with disabilities should be deteriorated.
