암 경험자의 생존단계별 필요에 관한 질적 연구

Abstract

암 경험자가 겪는 어려움은 생존단계에 따라 달라지며 그에 따른 필요(need) 양상도 변화한다. 생존단계에 따른 암 경험자의 다차원적인 필요를 이해하는 것은 이들에게 효과적인 사회적지지 체계를 마련하는 데 있어 중요한 과제라 할 수 있다. 본 연구는 암 경험자의 필요를 초기 생존단계와 장기 생존단계로 나누어 탐색하고 사회적지지가 생존 시기에 따라 적절하게 제공될 수 있는 기반을 마련하고자 하였다. 암환자와 보호자를 대상으로 포커스그룹 인터뷰를 사용하여 자료를 수집하였고 현상학적 방법으로 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 초기 생존단계에서 암 경험자는 치료제 접근성 향상 및 정보를 요구하였고 가족 간병 부담에 대한 사회적지지를 필요로 하였다. 장기 생존단계에서 암 경험자는 오랜 치료기간 동안 축적된 경제적 부담으로 생계유지에 어려움을 겪고 있었으며 치료 이후 사회복귀 및 노동참여 지원과 같이 스스로 생존해 나갈 수 있는 장기적 관점의 사회적지지를 필요로 하였다. 본 연구 결과가 암 경험자의 생존단계에 따른 필요를 이해하고 이를 위한 정책 방안을 마련하는 데 근거자료로 활용되기를 기대한다.

The difficulty and needs of cancer patients depend on their stage of survival. Understanding the multidimensional needs of cancer patients at different stages of survival is an important task in developing an effective social support system for them. The purpose of this study is to explore the needs of cancer patients in early stages and long-term stages of survival, and to lay the groundwork for social support. We collected data using focus group interviews with cancer patients and carers. The results of phenomenological analysis were as follows. In the early stages of survival, cancer survivors needed increased access to information and social support for the burden of family care. In the long-term survival stage, cancer survivors were struggling to earn a living due to the economic burden accumulated during the long treatment period. After treatment, they needed long-term social support such as social rehabilitation and labor participation support. It is hoped that the results of this study will be used as a basis for understanding the needs of the survival stages of cancer patients and for preparing policy measures.
