신규 빈곤진입과정에서의 정신건강 변화

Abstract

본 연구는 사회원인론에 입각하여 빈곤과 정신건강과의 역동적인 변화 양상을 종단적 접근을 통해 살펴보는 데에 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위해 한국복지패널 1차-13차까지의 데이터를 활용하여, 신규빈곤진입집단 622명, 비빈곤유지집단 10061명을 추출하였다. 분석방법은 잠재성장모형과 다집단분석을 활용하였다. 분석결과, 첫째, 연구대상자의 우울감은 시간이 지남에 따라 회복되어지는 모습을 보였다. 둘째, 신규빈곤집단은 시간이 지나도 우울감이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 신규빈곤집단과 비빈곤유지집단의 우울감 차이는 지속적인 것으로 확인되었다. 넷째, 신규빈곤집단에 속한 여성과 음주문제가 있는 경우가 비빈곤유지집단보다 정신건강문제에 더 취약함을 확인하였다. 본 연구결과를 통해 빈곤 대상자들의 정신건강 접근에 관한 보다 강화된 사회적 개입이 이루어져야 함을 제시하였고, 빈곤의 회복력에 기반한 탈 빈곤 정책이 필요함을 제시하였다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the dynamic changes of poverty and mental health through a longitudinal approach based on social causation. For this purpose, 622 new poverty entrants and 10,061 persistently non-poor individuals were sampled using the data used in the Korea Welfare Panel Study (1st-13th waves). The analysis method used Latent Growth Curve Model and Multi-Group Analysis. As a result of the analysis, first, the subjects' depression was recovered over time. Second, the new poverty group showed high depression over time. Third, the difference in depression between the new and persistent non-poverty groups was found to be consistent. Fourth, it was confirmed that women in the new poverty group and those with drinking problems were more vulnerable to mental health problems than the persistent non-poverty group. The results of this study suggest that a stronger social intervention on mental health access of the poverty subjects should be made, and anti-poverty policies based on the resilience of poverty are needed.
