저소득 암생존자의 구직 경험에 대한 현상학적 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 저소득 암생존자의 구직 과정에서의 경험을 사회문화적 맥락에서 심층적으로 고찰하여 이들의 직장으로의 복귀를 돕는 정책과 서비스 마련을 위한 기초 자료를 제공하는 것을 목적으로 수행되었다. 이를 위해 연구 참여에 동의한 저소득 암생존자 7명을 대상으로 심층 인터뷰를 진행하였고 그 자료를 Giorgi(1970)가 제시한 현상학적 방법으로 분석하였다. 그 결과, 6개의 구성요소가 도출되었으며, 이는 ‘돌아왔지만 황폐해진 일상의 삶’, ‘내몰리듯 나서야만 하는 구직시장’, ‘나서는 발걸음을 부여잡는 암의 상흔’, ‘상처투성이에 맨손으로 올라야 하는 가파른 구직의 절벽’, ‘흔들리고 쓰러져도 다시 일어나 마주하기’, ‘발 디딜 곳 없는 절망의 낭떠러지에서 구직이란 희망의 외줄 타기’이었다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 저소득 암생존자에 대한 구직활동 지원을 위한 제도적, 임상적 보완 방향에 대한 함의를 도출하였다.

This qualitative study aims to explore the job-seeking experience of low-income cancer survivors. The participants were 7 cancer survivors who agreed to participate. Data were collected by individual in-depth interviews and analyzed using phenomenological methodology by Giorgi (1970). The study derived 6 categories and 21 themes. These categories were characterized as follows: ‘returning to but encountering torn and exhausted daily life’, ‘being forced out on the labor market without preparation’, ‘being interrupted to job-seeking by wounds from cancer’, ‘climbing the steep cliffs of job-seeking without help’, ‘getting up and confronting even if being shaken and falling down’, ‘walking on the tightrope of hope for returning to work from the depths of despair’. The results of this study suggest that cancer survivors in low-income encounter a lot of barriers in job-seeking process, the first step of returning to work and more advice is required from health professionals in order to successfully reintegrate back into the workforce. The findings of this study will provide the basic information to develop a tailored approach regarding return to work support for cancer survivors in low-income.
