중학생의 자살생각에 대한 사이버괴롭힘 피해 및 차별 경험의 영향

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 중학생의 자살생각에 대하여 지각된 사회적 요인인 사이버괴롭힘 피해 및 차별 경험이 인구사회학적 특성과 심리적 요인을 넘어서서 유의한 영향을 미치는지 실증적으로 검증하고자 하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 한국청소년정책연구원에서 2016년 실시한 ‘한국 아동･청소년 인권실태연구VI’의 중학생 자료를 이용하여 인구사회학적 특성인 성별, 연령, 성적, 경제적 상황, 심리적 요인인 우울, 스트레스, 자아존중감, 그리고 지각된 사회적 요인인 사이버괴롭힘 피해 및 차별 경험과 자살생각 간의 관계에 대하여 3단계에 걸친 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 인구사회학적 특성과 심리적 요인을 넘어서서 지각된 사회적 요인이 추가됨으로써 모형이 통계적으로 유의하게 좋아졌으며, 사이버괴롭힘 피해와 차별 경험은 자살생각에 각각 유의한 정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 청소년 자살예방을 위하여 심리적 요인 뿐 아니라 사회적 요인인 사이버괴롭힘 피해 및 차별 경험에 대한 개입 역시 필요함을 뒷받침하는 것으로서 이에 근거하여 관련된 함의를 제시하였다.

This study intended to investigate the influences of perceived social predictors for suicidal ideation among Korean middle school students, over and above the influences of psychological predictors. Specifically, this study examined the effects of depression, stress, self-esteem, cybervictimization, and discrimination using hierarchical logistic regression analysis. The data of 3,775 middle school students nationwide were analyzed using SPSS 24.0. The findings showed that the final model where cybervictimization and discrimination were additionally entered was significantly improved compared with the second model where socio-demographic characteristics and psychological predictors―depression, stress, and self-esteem―were entered. Specifically, cybervictimization and discrimination had significant effects on suicidal ideation, controlling for the socio-demographic characteristics and psychological predictors. Given these findings, this study suggests that further studies on and intervention for cybervictimization and discrimination are required to prevent or reduce adolescent suicide.
