dc.description.abstract	한국복지패널은 매년 기초분석보고서, 학술대회 보고서와 더불어 한국복지패널의 방향성과 활용도 제고를 위해 별도의 심층분석 보고서를 발간하고 있다. 2018년 심층분석 보고서에서는 한국복지패널을 해외 기관 및 연구자 등에게 알리고 그 성과를 확산시킬 필요가 있다는 점에서 수행되었으며, 이와 같은 목적을 달성하기 위해 두 가지 측면에서 연구를 진행하였다. 첫째, 복지패널을 해외에 알리고 홍보하기 위해서 먼저 해외 주요 패널의 역사적 발전 과정과 특성을 파악하고, 각국의 패널을 알리기 위한 노력이 어떻게 진행되고 있는지를 파악할 필요가 있으므로 미국와 영국, 유럽, 아시아의 주요 패널조사를 분석하였다. 둘째, 복지패널의 해외 연구자 활용도 제고를 위해 현재 국내 연구자에게 제공되고 있는 복지패널의 조사표, 유저가이드 등을 영문화하는 과정을 진행하였다. 올해 한국복지패널 심층분석 보고서에서 수행한 주요 연구결과가 한국복지패널의 지속가능성과 외부 활용도를 높이는데 기여하기를 바란다. In an attempt to broaden the use of The Korea Welfare Panel Study(KoWePS), the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs(KIHASA) has for some years published various reports and conference proceedings. This report, written in 2018, is an in-depth analysis of KoWePS. This report was begun with the intention of introducing the KoWePS and disseminating its outcomes to interested research institutions and researchers around the world. This report explores the KoWePS from an international perspective, putting it in comparison with some of the major panel studies in other countries. We traced the processes through which these panels evolved over time and were made widely available and used in research and policy-making. This report focuses on some of the major long-standing panel surveys that have been conducted in the US, the UK, Europe and Asia. With the view to broadening the use of KoWePS, we had the Questionnaires and the User’s guide translated into English. The panel surveys this study examined include the US’ PSID, the UK’s BHPS, Germany’s SOEP, Japan’s JHPS/KHPS and Taiwan’s PSFD. In detail, we examined various aspects of the surveys, including their backgrounds, rationale, samples, sampling weights, questionnaires and data use, and drew policy implications for KoWePS. The authors hope that this report will be of use to those looking to improve KoWePS, which we hope will remain a rich source of authentic data for research and national policy-making.
