배우자와의 지원교환 유형이 전기노인의 우울에 미치는 영향: 성별에 따른 비교를 중심으로

Abstract

최근 노년기 부부관계 증진을 위한 연구에서 부부 간 상호호혜적 관계의 중요성이 커지면서 노년기 배우자와 갖는 지원의 흐름과 그 영향력에 대한 연구 필요성이 제기되고 있다. 본 연구는 노인들이 가정 내에서 배우자와 어떠한 형태로 지원교환을 하고 있는지를 유형화하고, 각 유형별 지원형태가 노인의 우울에 미치는 영향을 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 ‘2014년도 노인실태조사’를 사용하여 잠재집단분석(LCA)으로 전기노인의 성별에 따른 배우자와의 지원유형을 도출하였으며, 기초분석과 중다회귀분석을 통하여 각 유형별 특성 및 우울과의 관계를 살펴보았다. 그 결과 남성노인은 수혜를 중심으로 상호교환, 정서교환도구수혜, 도구수발수혜, 도구수혜, 도구수발지원의 5가지 유형이 도출되었고, 여성노인은 제공을 중심으로 상호교환, 도구지원, 일방적지원, 정서도구교환, 정서교환도구수발수혜의 5가지 유형이 도출되었다. 각 유형별 우울에 미치는 영향은 남성은 상호교환에 비해 어느 형태의 지원이든 일방적으로 지원을 받는 유형일수록, 여성은 일방적으로 지원을 제공하는 유형일수록 우울이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 노년기 부부 간 적절한 역할분담 및 상호지원을 통한 긍정적 부부관계와 이에 따른 노인의 심리적 안정을 위한 방안을 제언하였다.

Recently, spousal reciprocity has been increasingly emphasized as a key component for improved marital relationships in old age. This study classifies the types of support exchanges by older couples and examines the effect of each type of support on depression. We used latent group analysis (LCA) to derive support types for spouses by gender. In addition, basic analysis and multiple regression analysis were conducted to identify the relationship between different types of characteristics and depression. The older males were divided into five types based on their receipt status: (1)interchange, (2)emotional support exchange / receiving instrumental support, (3)receiving instrumental support and care, (4)receiving instrumental support, and (5)giving instrumental support and care. The older females were divided into five types based on their provision status: (1)interchange, (2)instrumental support, (3)unilateral support, (4)emotional support exchange, and (5)emotional support exchange/receiving instrumental support and care. Compared to the interchange type, The older males had more depression when they receive unilateral support. However, The older females were more depression when they provided unilateral support. We suggest that a positive marital relationship depends on appropriate role allocation and reciprocal support by older couples and propose an intervention strategy to improve psychological stability.
