dc.description.abstractThe Republic of Korea has undergone demographic changes at a pace that has dazzled many population scientists. Fertility has declined to far below the replacement level(TFR=1.7) within a short span of three decades. Concerted government policies and programmes played a major role in achieving this momentous transition.
