dc.description.abstract	- 최근 환자용 영양식은 국제적으로 생명공학기술의 발달과 함께 효과적인 질병치료를 위해 의약품과 식품을 병용하는 방향으로 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있으며, 이에 따라 미국, 호주 등 각국 정부는 관련 규정의 개정을 검토 - 우리나라도 지금까지는 환자용 식품의 종류나 판매량이 작아 현행 기준 및 규격을 통한 관리에 큰 무리가 없었으나, 향후 환자용 식품 시장의 급격한 팽창이 예견되는 상황에서 소비자를 보호하고 국내 산업을 발전시키기 위해서는 현행 기준 및 규격의 개선이 요구 - 합리적인 환자용 식품의 기준 및 규격 제정을 위해서는 무엇보다 환자용 식품의 사용 실태를 파악하는 것이 중요한데 이에 대한 체계적인 조사 자료가 없어서 정책 판단을 하는데 어려움이 있다. 또한 환자용 식품은 정상인보다 외부의 영향에 민감한 환자를 대상으로 하고 있다는 점에서 품질관리가 매우 중요하며, 이에 현재 시판되고 있는 환자용 식품이 충분한 품질을 확보하고 있는지 여부도 조사할 필요
dc.description.abstract	Medical foods are produced for the people who are in difficulty to intake nutritional requirements and need special nutritional requirements. The size of medical foods market is estimated about 15 billion won and expected to grow bigger in consideration of USA and Japan. Up to date, the regulatory control of medical foods is not a problem due to the small size of market. However as the size of the market will grow and the product types will be various the improvement of the present regulation of medical foods are required to meet the consumer and industry demands. As result of the survey, 95.1% of hospitals which respond to the survey uses medical foods. Among them, 40.3% hospitals only use commercially processed medical foods. Major groups using medical foods are the patients who are difficult to swallow food, need special nutritional requirement, and have diabetes. The effectiveness of medical foods are mainly considered in purchase decision(48.6%). Other quality(25.7%) and price(10.8%) are considered in order. 87.9% of the respondents say that the information and labelling are not difficult to understand. The decision of using medical foods are mainly done by medical doctors(86.5%) and the choice of the foods are mainly done by dietitian(66.2%). 97.5% of respondents agreed that medical foods contribute to the medical treatments. 90.1% of respondents require the strict control of KFDA and prior assessment. The use of medical foods should be done under the medical supervision. Therefore the definition of medical foods should include the words, under medical supervision. The specification of medical foods should be established while considering the product development and quality control. In this regard, the specification should be established for the medical foods consumed as a sole source of nutrition. The labelling of medical foods should be reviewed by industry for provision of right information while allowing wider information.
