Using the information system to process the raw data is more effective than the documents in the form of Excel and etc. — Using the documents in the form of Excel, etc. directly managed by the related divisions may be necessary in the short term period. However, this approach would not be sustainable considering the following reasons. First, more and more information system will run in the near future. Second, it is not necessary to process the data by the department of trade and statistics while the information system to process the raw data is available. Third, it is more difficult to process the data in the form of the excel than Database. Portal service for policy statistics should be provided in order to effectively circulate the statistics. — As the result of the survey, the staffs in the KFDA have very positive to use the information system since it is less time consuming and more effective to process the data. — The portal service in the Ministry for Health, Welfare and Family Affairs and the National Fisheries Products Quality Inspection Service would be the good examples. Statistics for drug, medical devices, and cosmetics should be recognized by the Korea National Statistical Office(KNSO). — At present, the statistics for drug, medical devices, and cosmetics are not recognized by the KNSO. — The reliability and quality of the statistics will be stronger if they are recognized by the KNSO. The monitoring results relating to food safety should be included in the food and drug statistical yearbook. — The monitoring results is not managed as statistics although they are good indexes to understand the level of food safety. — They should be managed as statistics in considering the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey is statistics recognized by the KNSO. Advisory function in the KFDA should be reinforced and the guidelines on monitory survey should be published. The statistics produced by the other national agency, the industrial organization, or private companies should listed up and more actively used. — The most difficulty to use the statistics of the other than the KFDA's is that the staffs in the KFDA do not know whether and where the relevant statistics are. The present KFDA's rule on the statistics should be revised to reflect the change of the Statistics Act.
