dc.description.abstract	본 연구는 한국 사회의 소득불평등을 초래한 원인에 대한 분석 및 소득분배 악화에 직접적으로 영향을 주고받는 가계부채 및 소비실태의 문제점을 분석하는데 목적이 있다. 먼저 1998년에서 2008년 사이에 소득 불평등이 심화된 원인을 밝히기 위해 가구가처분소득을 구성하는 소득원천에 주목한 후, 각 원천별 소득의 불평등을 초래한 요인이 무엇이고 그 정도는 어느 정도였는지를 분석하였다. 또한 소득분위별 자산과 부채의 현황을 분석하고, 특히 금융부채가 소득불균형에 미칠 부정적 영향에 대해 분석하였다. 마지막으로 적자가구의 분포 변화를 분석한 후, 저소득층 가구가 소득부족분을 보충하기 위해 어떤 선택을 하고 있는지 실태를 분석하였다.
dc.description.abstract	The aim of this research is to analyze the cause of increasing income inequality in Korea. And we also tried to find major features in household debt and deficit. By sub-group decomposition of household income inequality, we could find that the contribution of between-group inequality has been increased. It was also found that the composition effect has relatively large share in dynamic sub-group decomposition according to ages and economic activities of househeaders. And in Gini decomposition according to income sources, it was found that relative contribution of spouse’s and other members’ labor income to household income inequality have been increased. According to factor decomposition of labor income, the price effect of employment status has been more powerful than age effect in explaining increasing inequality of header’s income. In case of spouse’s labor income, gender, age, and education have negtive effect in deepening inequality. Real asset has the largest portion in household asset composition while financial debt has the largest in debt composition. And the interest burden of lower income class was rather high than that of high income class. This means that burden of interest payment seems to make contribution in worsening income disparity. The ratio of deficit household has been increased while the depth of deficit decreased last ten years. In order to meet income shortage, deficit households are likely to further rely on revenue from selling assets or raising debt than ordinary households. From these findings, we can get some policy implications as follows: Labor market matters in improving distribution of household income. It should be taken into consideration that the policies focusing on loosening credit constraint of low income class can make negative effect on income distribution. In making policies for lessening the burden of household expenditure, the target group should not be narrowly defined.
